Very informative thank you! So have I understood correctly: with the Japanese/Korean/thinner textured/gel textured sunscreens it’s best to use those in Winter? And then thicker creams in Spring/Summer to ensure full protection? I work outside year round and want to make sure I protect my skin properly but really thick creams year round become a chore! So I’d love to try a gel sunscreen during winter. Thanks again!

I LOVE shaka fluid, But I had to change it because when I started using a little bit of retinol (neutrogena retinol, to build the tolerance of my skin and start using vitamin A) my skin started to get irritated and burned a little. It must be the alcohol in the sunscreen? I have ordered mineral sunscreen on Amazon because here in Belgium I cannot find. But now, with the virus situation I’m skeptical and I don’t want to order anymore. What sunscreen do you suggest to buy here in Belgium? I will be soon out of my mineral sunscreen. Thanks!

Would love a review on the Uriage sunscreen :) I tried to find the XP version but I believe it was discontinued.. which is unfortunate because that one was a PPD of 65 which is one of the highest I've seen at an affordable price :/

I'm using Tretinoin from one year. The only sunscreen that does not make me very very oily is the Shaka fluid and the Anti-shine line. If my skin is very irritated by a pealing for example, I feel a little bit of tingling for the first 10 seconds, and that's all ? Since the Antishine is very very mat and peals I often mix both of them... I am not sure if that can interfere the filters. What do you think, since they are the same brand with similar filters?

I find the shaka fluid too liquidy, really difficult to apply the recommended amount. And it's still quite shiny. My skin was a bit more irritated with this sunscreen and some visible capillaries that I had lasered away returned during the time I used this sunscreen, I suspect the alcohol, because it stings a bit as well when I apply it. The positive, it doesn't feel heavy and it's whitecast free, with overall good uv filters.

It's BETTER than the LRP Shaka. It's alcohol and fragrance free, filters are Uvinul A Plus, Tinosorb S, Uvinul T150, Octisalate and Homosalate. Completely transparent. Suuuper gentle since it's a kids sunscreen.

It's very lightweight, but it's more moisturizing and slightly more emollient/viscous than Shaka, so it's easier to apply the correct amount. It has the consistency of a lightweight lotion/emulsion. Very elegant. It's seriously amazing ❤️?

I'm currently using the Photoderm Max Family Milk, but I much prefer the Kids Spray.

What I don't like about the Shaka is that it's basically water, it's almost IMPOSSIBLE to apply 1/4 tsp. I gave up on it for this reason

Is these sunscreen Mineral?

Interestingly this Anthelios line always having Mexoryl SX all the way down to the bottom of the ingredient lists, like 3rd or 4th from bottom. The Mexoryl XL also somewhere middle of the list, like 12th or 13th from top. No idea if they are significant in product.

On the other hand, sunscreen from L'Oréal such as the UV Perfect line is having these uv filtres way up there, like the 3rd or 4th after water.

I'm so annoyed that brands don't disclose the exact uvapf. I realized that lrp shaka and garnier ambre solaire uv fluid have almost the exact same ingredient list. I messaged with Garnier and they told me that their uv fluid also has a minimum uvapf of 46

I used this sunscreen for years, then I think they changed the formula. It left yellowish streaks on my face and it pilled up as the day went on. I now use Avène sunscreen without any issues.

There's 5% alcohol in that LRP product (5% BEMT, 5% Octisalate, 3.5% UvinulT150, 3% MexorylXL, 3%BMDBM, 0.297% Mexoryl SX). I found it quite sticky, and shiny, but not drying and no whitecast. Have you tried the ACM DÉPIWHITE M SPF50+, MUTI SPF50, Biodermal Kids Zonnemelk SPF50+ or Derma Zonnelotion SPF50 (75mL) already? They also have great sunscreen actives.

Ohhh yes. You are so on point. Am a brown skin Girl and this sunscreen is just so perfect on me. No white cast.

But the only thing which I have noticed is that after 4 hours , my face especially the T zone area becomes so oily.
It doesn't stink as well.

I absolutely love this sunscreen ! I use it under makeup with out any problem everyday. I tried other sunscreens but they broke me out ( kose suncut essence). I have repurchased it sooo many times. It truly provides excellent protection. Once I was out in an amusement park all day more or less under the sun, and my face had 0 tan(without reapplication! ). Ps I have dry skin so I do prefer a slightly dewy finish, hate completely mat and drying ones xd

How would this compare to Avene Cleanance Sunscreen SPF 50+ ? Which would you choose?

I actually think the LRP kids lotion SPF 50+ is lighter weight than this one, and it didn't sting my eyes, personally. Plus it's much more affordable due to the large packaging, and the PPD is 39 if I remember correctly :)

I got the Dear Klairs sunscreen first and didn't like because it felt like my skin wasn't "breathing", like it made a coat and it was quite weird if I sweated....a big NO unfortunately.....they I tried some testers of this LRP Ultra sunscreen and I haven't used any other sunscreen since! <3 love it, for the price is excellent, like your wearing nothing, no fragrance at all and you don't get greasy over time. This is my holy grail and I hope they will never stop making it <3

Hello, is Zinc Oxide percentage important in a sunscreen? Does the percentage of the filters affect the amount of protection against UV?

I bought it last week. I currently have acne and this is definitely too much greasy for me, but I have to say that considering the amount of filters the formula and the finish are amazing. I’m a chemist and I am super picky about sunscreens. Definitely recommended.

This is a LOVELY sunscreen and comes in 200 mL. It's more elegant than LRP Shaka, which I also used, but much more economical. But I really need your opinion on it, especially the filters used. I'm on a mission to find the best anti-aging sunscreen. PPD 39 is very high I think. Filters are Uvinul A Plus, Homosalate, Tinosorb S, Octisalate and Uvinul T150.

I don't use Asian sunscreens because they do not provide sufficient protection, in my opinion.

Also how do you feel about Octocrylene as a filter? EWG says it generates oxidative stress in the skin. I want to try Altruist SPF 50 but it contains Octocrylene so it makes me nervous. Have you tried Altruist? It's supposed to have a PPD of 45??

Any thoughts on collagen as a humectant?

Hi guys, anthelios ultra cream sensitive eye innovation spf 50+..probably the best sunscreen I tried so far, with a huge BUT: yellowish, sallow color. ?
My opinion about this sunscreen. Hope this helpful to you.

Yes, myth busted: chemical sunscreen leaves the cast, just no the white one.
I love this sunscreen because:
1) high uvb and high uva rating of ppd 35
2)fragrance free
3)moisturizing, dewy finish..rich, but not shiny in my combination skin, no oily, even with reapplication at multiple times (as we should). So ??
4) it doesn't ball up (how I hate this)
5)it doesn't sting my eyes
6)it goes smoothly without white cast or messy face.
But again, yellowish cast indeed.
I have fair skin type, this yellow finish is an issue for me and - I'm sure- for others.
Yellow color comes from uv filters and probably also from the presence of an extract (Scutellaria baicalesis).
If you have dark skin type, this sunscreen is for you. If you have pale skin or the medium one, but you want to keep your natural skin color or you want a bright face, it's not, at least in terms of color. My humble opinion.
So...I really do hope La Roche Posay will can fix/neutralize this color somehow as soon as possible. And no, I don't think at all the answer is adding a little bit of titanium dioxide/zinc oxide, because the texture and the elegant formula would be inevitably affected, at least with reapplication- and reapplication is a must. I hope for a solution ?

What does tintied one mean?

The way you apply sunscreen is so wrong! Sunscreen must be applied liberally. Not in such extreme small amount like here. Therefore this application isn’t realistic at all. Since it’s doesn’t reflect a real-life application due its amount.

You do know that you need to apply half of a table spoon of sunscreen to actually get the protection right?
