Polystyrene sulfonates are

Polystyrene sulfonates are polymers derived from polystyrene but containing sulfonic acid or sulfonate functional groups. The linear polymer is white when very pure and is water-soluble. The crosslinked material does not dissolve in water and typically appears amber in color. These polymers are classified as polysalts and ionomers. They are widely used to remove ions from a solution in technical or medical applications.

Really enjoyed this! I'd love a video on the other ingredients to avoid, such as silicons & parabens as you said. Very informative and concise; also liked the before and after pic - I've only recently discovered the CG community and how to better take care of my wavy/ curly hair instead of straightening it every time I shower! My current curl pattern is kinda between your previous and current hair so am excited to see how it'll look in 10 months too (after I hopefully stick to a sulphate-free shampoo!)

Curlfriends!! Hello!

Curlfriends!! Hello! In this video I'm sharing with you 3 awesome ingredients that you NEED to know about when looking for a shampoo! Let's eliminate the stress of choosing hair care products, one ingredient (INCI) at a time. :D

2. Cocomidopropyl Betaine

3. Sodium C14-C16 Olefin Sulfonate (sounds scary, but it's curl friendly.)

Hey! I just love all your videos. Been binge watching the past 48h ?
I was just wondering if you could do a video on black soap (if you don't hace one already). I've been shampooing with that the last year or so... but haven't found a chemistry based video on that yet. Other than that, I hope you are doing fine! Keep going, you are an answer to many prayers!!!

Yolanda Grant

My shampoo has 2 of the 3 ingredients? it also has hydrolyzed wheat protein ???????? Kera Care Hydrating Detangling Shampoo.

Tywan Brown

Hi Sharmaine, always a pleasure to see you ?

Thank you sis you always have some great info?

Amazing! I could not click subscribed, fast enough! I have binge watched with the excitement of a child at Christmas!

grimlock smash

Shea moisture's hemp seed oil shampoo has the coca one, but they mixed in other stuff and it ended up being so stripping. What was the point!?

Excellent information on what to look for in shampoo. ??

Vich Gold

Interesting! When I use a shampoo with polyquartenium-7 , my hair is so dry and broke easily.
But, a shampoo with polyquartenium-10, it's not happen.

Caio Lima

Do you think Sodium C14-C16 Olefin Sulfonate can damage hair when used for a long time? Thank you

Chosen TinyT

Raw Sugar Truly Unruly Shampoo, which has avocado, apple cider vinegar and rosemary oil has all of those ingredients as well. Thank you for your expertise.

Hi!!! Thank you for sharing the great information in your videos. What kind of shampoo would you recommend for thinning, mature hair?

Nicole Allen

These are helpful tips!

Estie P

Yes to this! When you said cocomidol propyl betaine I knew you were onto something, because I noticed a while ago that all of my favourite shampoos have that which is awesome! :)

Cocamidoproply betaine is.drying to my hair, because of the type of coconut oil derative that it is. ?☹️

Do you think that dimethiconol is okay to use when it is in a shampoo with Sodium C14-16 Olefin Sulfonate as the anionic surfactant?

Vanielle Brown

My bottle of Eden Bodyworks peppermint tee tree shampoo has all three!

Lavona Edwards

Omg why did I not know about you I am such a product nerd. Am an Rn and everyone asks why I didn’t become a chemist because I’m always ordering stuff to formulate lol. Like someone else said I have been binge watching like you are a Netflix series ? can this ingredient wash away all silicones? I hear different things but they aren’t pros

Williams J

? Great seeing you. Hair is looking lovely! ?

Andrea Aimable

I really wish I had subscribe during my transition, by now my hair would be healthy and long.

Esty Ash

What shampoo do you use that has all 3??

Kristina Rogers

A shampoo that I seen that has this is creme of nature Argan Oil shampoo which I love ??❤️

Healthy Empress

Thx. The 3rd one where is it derived from?

sexy ass??

Oscar Angulo

The sodium c14-c16 helps to clean silicon????

Great vid Sharmaine. Thank you. I find practically all products leave a coating on my extremely low porosity hair, so I’m gonna try doing your ACV rinse after each wash. However I just wanted to ask you are sulfates really that bad for the hair? Do you use sulphate shampoos? And can you recommend any good not so harmful shampoos please, particularly those that you know contain the products you mentioned? I’m in the UK so it shouldn’t be too hard for me to get products. I’m gonna be cutting my hair off again soon, and really want to start afresh looking after my hair and giving it some TLC. Thanks in advance. You’re an inspiration.

What lipstick are you wearing? So pretty!

Love that your videos are quick starting and to the point. No long intros or rambling.

Fine Curls

Thank you for this video. I was wondering which ingredient do you recommend for soft water?
